Our goal is to create impact.
Impact students, and empower them to impact their communities through technology.

We provide University of Calgary students with experience in developing native apps, web development and Google Cloud Platform, to help them work towards employability.

  • Students have the opportunity to not only learn development skills, but also apply them to real world problems by developing solutions, and then showcasing their work within their communities.
  • Potentially networking opportunities with industry professionals.
  • Study Jams on topics such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, infrastructure and architecture, Big Query (cloud database)

Still not quite sure what a Study Jam is?

  • It's a Community Event
  • It's a collective learning program through interactive classrooms and hands-on labs.
  • It combines practical developer experience with Google Cloud expertise.
  • Like-minded developers come together to hone their skills and further their cloud knowledge

Why you should attend?

  1. Cloud Study jams are ways to get official hands on technical training at no cost on a wide range of technologies or topics available on the Google Cloud Platform.
    • There is a track for you, no matter your skill level
    • Whether you are a beginner developer, or interested in diving deep into Machine Learning, Kubernetes, Cloud IoT, or Cloud Security
    Choose any of the recommended tracks: GCP, Machine Learning, BigQuery, Certification, and Kubernetes.
  2. They are community run by student developers, like you!
    • When you study in groups, there is always someone there to help you
    • Study Jam attendees start their learning in person and then continue developing their skills online individually.
  3. Free Stuff!
    • When you participate in a Cloud Study Jam, you get 30 days ($55+ value) of free access to hands-on labs powered by Qwiklabs
    • Qwiklabs will enable you to develop and grow your skills on Cloud technologies
    • Complete your quests and earn Google Cloud Badges.
    • The Google Cloud Badges then gain you additional access to Qwiklabs!

Developer Student Clubs (DSCs)

Developer Student Clubs (DSC) are community groups for students from any academic background in their undergraduate or graduate term. By joining a DSC, students build their professional and personal network, get access to Google developer resources, and work together to build solutions for local problems in a peer-to-peer learning environment.

Connect beyond the screen.

When you join a GDG, you’ll have the opportunity to meet local developers with similar interests in technology, attend talks on a wide range of technical topics, and learn new skills through hands-on workshops. GDG prides itself on being an inclusive environment. Everyone and anyone interested in tech - from beginner developers to experienced professionals - are welcome to join.

Women Techmakers

Google's Women Techmakers program provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology. From 2014 to present, Women Techmakers is continually launching global scalable initiatives and piloting new programs to support and empower women in the industry.
